Bring button downs for sport back.
Too much of golf is about performance, especially when it relates to clothing. The best golfers of the first three quarters of the 20th century wore button down aka "Sport Shirts", cashmere sweaters, and slacks. Do you really need that wicking shirt to swing the club and enjoy golf?
We don't think so and we're bringing button downs back where they belong - in sport.
The essence of the button down shirt has been lost for decades. The button down shirt was invented for sports - polo, to be specific. In fact, Brooks Brothers founder, John Brooks, took note of how polo players (the sport on horses) buttoned-down their collars on the shirts they wore while playing and adapted his own sport shirts to include this design element.
Brooks Brothers, founded in 1818, filed for bankruptcy this year and was sold to Simon Property Group, the biggest mall operator in the US. Much to their loyal customer's dismay, Brooks Brothers product quality is now barely recognizable to what made so many people loyal to the brand.
BUT, THESE button downs are from the Brooks Brothers best era, Made in the iconic Garland Factory in North Carolina home to Brooks Brothers shirt-making for 50+ years. These classic blue button downs feature embroidered golf flags on the cuffs. One red, one yellow.
Madison fit provides room but structure in a silhouette that fits most.
There is no better button down shirt, so why bother trying to make one.
